Easter Egg Hunt & Donations

The church youth group is asking for Easter donations for our annual Egg Hunt. There is a sign up sheet in the Narthex for items such as plastic Easter eggs, candy, small novelty toys, etc. We appreciate all the donations and are so thankful to our generous congregation.

Also, please let us know how many children will be attending our Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday. Please check out our event page on Facebook and RSVP. We will have the hunt immediately after church service. Please bring your Easter basket to gather eggs. Thank you and God’s Blessings!

The Common Cup & Thank you!

A note from Pastor Daniel…

Isaiah 62:6-9

6On your walls, O Jerusalem,  I have set watchmen;  all the day and all the night they shall never be silent. You who put the Lord in remembrance, take no rest,7 and give him no rest until he establishes Jerusalem and makes it a praise in the earth.8 The Lord has sworn by his right hand and by his mighty arm: “I will not again give your grain to be food for your enemies,

and foreigners shall not drink your wine for which you have labored;9 but those who garner it shall eat it and praise the Lord, and those who gather it shall drink it in the courts of my sanctuary.”[e]

Grace family I am now a watchman.  I will not be silent and will continue to proclaim the Gospel to all.  I am so thankful for this Grace family.  You all have provided for me and my family throughout these four years.  Specifically, you all showered on my family me an abundant amount of gifts and I am grateful for all of them.

I am still not finished, I have still two more classes to go, but I look forward to them and I believe they will greatly help this church.  I know I have much more still to learn and I will still very much rely on the guidance of Pastor Kaelberer, but I look to the future with enthusiasm and hope that only the Lord can provide.  I will be meeting with Pastor Kaelberer shortly to set up the new duties I will start taking on as well as setting up schedules and roles that I will now be doing.

Pr. Kaelberer will have me do the Lord’s Supper constantly for about a month so I can become more familiar with it.  I also enjoyed having the chalice at the ordination and will continue to use it during communion.  The reason behind the common cup in simple terms is that Christ passed one cup and also this is what brings communion, oneness in Christ that we share the same cup for we are all the Lord’s children.  This does not mean we are getting rid of the individual cups, but I believe the common cup is much more clearly in line with the Word of God.  If anyone is concerned about germs please do some research about it and you will see that even getting those terrible diseases are more apt to happen just by being around the person than sharing the common cup.  Also, for those not partial to alcohol or are afraid that it may set you back by drinking it may just raise it to wet their lips.  Most importantly of all we must remember that what we receive is our Savior’s actual body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine.  Our faith must be in the Lord that He gives us Himself not to harm us, but to redeem us and give benefit to us both in spirit and in body.  One article link from the L.A. Times is posted below for a good starter.

I saved the best for Last, I as a new shepherd of this church am truly humbled that the Lord would pick me for this role.  He has called me and I know that it is only by His will and His strength that I will do a good and right job in this position.  All honor and glory go to Him, who is the Good Shepherd, who tends and cares for all of His sheep.  I just want to thank Him for using me as His instrument to give His Word and Sacraments.  Only I understand how great a feat that is, but nevertheless I am super appreciative that He still wants a poor miserable sinner such as myself.  If He can make me a pastor then I know the impossible can happen.  This church will be fine for it is He that has this family in His hands.  Glory be to God!  Amen!
